Rose Carballeira is a freelance illustrator based in Upstate New York. Her passion for illustration began at the age of 4 when her great-grandmother, a dress maker, allowed Rose to draw hats on two of her figure sketches.

She is inspired by her great-grandmother’s work in the fashion industry, Art Nouveau and Golden Age illustrators as well as her hippie upbringing, music, and her background in Irish dance and Tribal Fusion belly dance.

Rose received her BFA in Graphic + Media Design from Sage College of Albany and is proficient in traditional drawing and painting, a variety of digital media and printmaking methods, but is most passionate about the freedom she feels creating watercolor and ink drawings. Working this way is quick and allows her to express her organic and vibrant sensibility.

Rose currently lives like a Disney princess in the forest with all manner of animal friends.
