I Don’t Need Drugs

“I don’t do drugs, I am drugs.”
-Salvador Dali

This piece was done in Harold Lohner’s intaglio class my final semester at Sage College of Albany. The stress of finishing my thesis made me a little manic. I felt like I was someone else’s hallucination after a while.

At the time I was also re-reading Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials in which the practice of treppanning, or drilling a hole in the skull, plays a role.
